Summer

I have had a few of the grand kids here this summer. One at a time they have added some joy to my summer and I hope I have done the same for them.
Early on the garden got terraced and planted with the help of some friends. I took a few pictures at the end of the landscaping job and then as it got planted and intermittently over the summer. The Heirloom German Pink tomatoes as of August 16th are over 5 feet tall and loaded with fruit. The Roma tomatoes are almost 4 feet tall and so full it looks like they are clusters of grapes growing.
Everyone is amazed at the productiveness of it. The food pantry is benefiting from it too. The yellow crook neck squash are completely out of control and so are the watermelon. God has been good here. I will take just a little credit for doing companion planting.
I have made a bit of wirewrap jewelry and plan on getting my torch out again to do some silversmithing also.
I got myself a fishing license this year and let my grand daughter teach me how to fish. It was lots of fun. tomorrow summer for the kids is over and they have to get ready for the school routine so no more visiting grand mother.

Finally... it stopped raining and My friends and I have gotten some of the garden veggies in. The fence is also put back up and Peter Cotton Tail is going to have to find an easier place to find a snack. It's almost half planted now. Hope to go for a trail ride tomorrow maybe.

Makeshift Greenhouse Magic

LOL I guess it pays to have a creative mind. I have had the plants outside getting hardened off since Sunday. It started raining Monday evening and I put them under the cloths line with a huge sheet over them. I never expected it was going to rain for days on end. Today after seeing that it was going to rain another day I got a roll of Plastic out and made a makeshift greenhouse out of the cloths lines. Had I not done that this evening I am sure they would have been drown completely dead. I hope the rain doesn't pull the plastic down over night. I really want the chance to plant them inn the garden after all the care I have given them over the course of their little seedling lives. I will have a frame built over the summer so I only have to put on the plastic next spring.
This will not happen again!

I went to the Crivitz Rescue Squad open house this afternoon. They had hamb. and hot dogs, potato salad to eat. The High School jazz band was there playing. It was a good time. They are trying to raise enough money to buy a new ambulance. They do need one, so I hope they came at least close to their goal. But this is a small community and even though they serve Middle Inlet also I'm not sure they had that many people there. If anyone out there wants to donate $ you can always send it to Crivitz Rescue Squad, Crivitz WI 54114. They will get it.

May 3

I have had a very interesting day. I went for a trailride this morning on Hershey. Then thought I was going to help a friend, jack up his mobile home, that he stores stuff for rummage sales but he wasn't feeling like it.
I made the acquainance of a seemingly wonderful person in California.
(You know who you are*) I downloaded skype so I could talk free & unlimited to people anywhere in the daytime also. I Like that... yes I do.
I am exhausted and happy so I know I will sleep good tonight.

Seems she is trying to stay out of the spotlight at the risk of her own safety. How about all you prayer warriors going to work for her.

Training is Over

I am so glad that training is over. It was all very intense and I am really burned out from all the information and uglyness of what perpitrators do and the damage it causes the victims.
Lots has happened this last week. The washer broke and although I have a new one sitting in the hall it isn't ready to use. I need to level it and haven't had time to do that.
I have a new Rhumatologist I saw Friday. He x-rayed everything but the top of my head. I guess that means he doesn't think it is in my head! LOL He took a flower pot of blood too, it seemed like. At least he is doing some blood tests to see what there is that he can pin point. Arthritis is so hard to figure out because there are so many types and I probably have more than one type.
My horse needs a bath as soon as it gets warmer. I am trying to figure out how to do that since she is afraid of water other than in her drinking pail. LOL That should be a real adventure getting that done.
I see the local fire department is trying to get volunteers to join again. We have a small department and a big area to cover. I used to be on the Deptartment and it never seemed we had enough people.
It is also time to start planting my seeds for the garden and get some of the plants started that take the longest to get big enough to plant outside. Like the broccoli then the tomatoes. Friends and I did manage to get all the shelves put up. So they are just waiting for me to do what I need to do.
Last tid-bit ... I named the last puppy Bibbs. She just looks like she has a bib on and she is answering to it so I guess it fits.

Thank You to my friends

I have to mention my friends Kathy and Kevins son Shammus (boy I don't know if I spelled that right). That boy and kathy helped me feed and water the animals and carry in my wood so I wouldn't hurt my hand while it was healing. What a blessing to have friends that can be counted on.
They are also going to watch the place and care for the animals two saturdays in a row so I can take the training for Sexual Assault Counselor. I am going to be volunteering now that they are getting a center going in my county.

Healing up

I am well on my way to full hand recovery. There was a mild sore under the cast when they took it off to check the progress. They wanted to put another one on me and I refused to let them. instead they took me over to the Occupational Therapist and had him put on a removable splint made out of that plastic stuff that they heat and mold on you. It actually was pretty flimsy sowhen I got home I added a wrist wrap over the top of it. I still can't leave it on for to many hours or the thing opens again over where they have the pins in my thumb joint. It seems to be healing good though otherwise. The middle finger that got amputated is healing fine. I guess my skin just can't tolerate any 'thing' that causes pressure against it.
It actually looks a lot better than this picture which was taken the day they took the cast off.

This is a watercolor painting I did from a picure of my Grand Daughter. It is the first portrait I have ever tried.

Do you do what you believe or Believe what you do?

I am watching Donna Bryne and her horses. here is what i have to say to her folowers and her.
I have given this blog site link to a person in Louisiana and she is getting some of her friends ready to help if they can. I also sent her the news article from Ocala. To Donna you don't have to be a genius to be a hero just brave. You are doing this for so many of us that would give up almost anything to live our dream. It owuld be nice if you had poeple on the route that could trail ride with you in their own areas as you pass by, It would keep you safe. Sue
